About Commissions!!

August is here and we have gotten a lot of emails and messages about Commissions opening up!

Unfortunately I have to announce that Commissions are closed!

Sylar and I have a huge costume schedule for this Fall with very big costumes. I also have a big internship this Fall and it would be unfair to take on any commissions without being able to spend enough time on them.

If you have no recieved an email back from me, you will soon with my apologies.

HOWEVER.  I do have time for small props/weapons and accessory commissions.

I have already accepted some, if you wish to send in a PROP commission price quote, you may! I am still accepting them! (Or if you already sent an email, I’ll get back to you soon.)

Sorry about that guys! I’ll let you know when my schedule clears. Most likely it will be AFTER New York Comic Con!

Thanks guys!

A bow/arrow/quiver set I made for a commission. Phew! Now that the commission is pretty much done, I can start and finish Ghirahim’s cosplay and the Madoka bow commission all for AX. The bow is made from one long length of fake plant wire, layered with craft foam on each side. The handle is a bast of foam wrapped in suede  and a simple wax string finishes it. It’s not functional, but hopefully its convincing! The arrows are wooden dowels and feathers and foam tips (the three in the quiver arent removable. The quiver is made from a leather covered plastic cup tube… thingy, a belt and googly eye rivets. :)

A quick trick for cosplayers!

Spray painted Googly eyes make the best metal rivets! And they come in various sizes for all sized rivets.

I have also used dots of just hot glue itself. All the metal rivets on my Hawke cosplay are just silver painted hot glue dots.

I am currently closing Commissions. Unless you have already emailed me before today — no commission emails from today onward can be accepted. I’m really sorry about this guys, but I’m officially booked until SDCC this summer, and I have four of my own costumes to make before them. All quite big and intensive. Commissions are already running behind, and I don’t want to take on any more projects that could harm those I am already doing commissions for. For those of you that have emailed me before this post — you are safe and you should be hearing from me soon. My email & ask box however, is still open to advice, tips, help on anything or research. I can still give you price quotes, but please be aware that I am most definitely booked for commissions until August 2012. That means, I could not start on anything new until then. Finally, all things change. Hopefully with how fast I normally work, bookings will clear up sooner than that. But I can’t make any promises at this time. I will announce when they are open again!

Star Wars, Boba Fett - Cosplay CommissionPretty done much done… just waiting for the Wookie braids and red belt to come in the mail. Also gotta add the decal on the right shoulder plate that I forgot. Have I mentioned I love making things? I seriously love making shit.

Star Wars, Boba Fett  - Cosplay CommissionHeyyy!!! All the armor is finished and so are the clothes. Boba Fett is 89% finished. I did get to derp around in this helmet some, but the photos came out a bit blurry since I was flailing so much. I wish I had a full body mannequin to show you guys the whole set together. Maybe I can figure something out once I buy the final pieces. (Belts & wookie braids.)

Star Wars, Boba Fett - Cosplay Commission Progress

I think I have a fondness for armor painting. I wonder if I can get a job just replicating damaged metal textures.

Anyway, Boba Fett is almost done. The clothes are all tailored. Now I’m just detailing the armor paint and assembling the pieces whole.

I’m mad at myself though, because the front of the dome helmet came out rough. I need to make it smoother and redo the paint. It’s not a long task, just frustrating. I’ll have to pull out some spackling paste or some bondo. Sigh.

Finshed the Axe prop I took on….After the spackling dried, I sealed the whole thing with polyacrylic and then painted it entirely silver. Used some hammered texture spray paint, scratched back into it to reveal the silver, and then detailed it with some rust colored paints. It was fun!

I’m also currently making an executioner’s axe for a college buddy of mine, who is a film student that needs a prop for his movie project.

It has to be durable enough to knock around a few styrofoam heads, so I’ve made it out of two sheets of thick chipboard and a center of foam core. I’ve also filled it with spackling paste like the Fett armor.

It’s pretty strong! I was whacking away at my wig head for like 20 minutes listening to some MSI. XD

I love my life.

PHHEWW!!  All the armor is made, shaped, cut and glued and spackled together. All 95 pieces into a neat 24 parts.

Now that the slow hard part is done, the painting will be done in a day (therefore all the armor) and the soft work of the jumpsuit should be done by friday.  :D

I left the armor in the workshop to dry so I can sand, seal, and paint tomorrow. I left a sign to ward off my dumb college mates to keep their paws off my shit. >_>

Fett — why are your damn bracers so freaking complicated?!?

Star Wars, Boba Fett - Cosplay Commission Progress
It doesn’t look like much right now, but this is the beginning’s of the Fett’s right bracer. It’s not too much of a progress update, (The helmet is drying with spackling paste right now, and the kneepads are as well) but I am very proud of sitting here and figuring out the complexity of these templates for these, at first, intimating bracers. You know, Ive made tons of costumes from different fandoms and making a Star Wars costume is other wordly. It’s almost like everything is done for me, and these templates I got from the dented helmet are perfection. Coming from DA where you have to make shapes of armor yourself and struggle for hours getting a template down, I was expecting something super challenging. Even when I printed out the templates I stared at them like ‘thismakesnosensehowamIgoingtodothis!?” but they fell into place perfectly and its the amazing Star Wars cosplayers I have to thank for that.

Spider Jerusalem Glasses - Commission

These glasses were actually a lot harder than I first thought they would be. I had thought to solder two pairs glasses together, but thats easier said than done with no solder. OTL

Four pairs of glasses later, and I simply re shaped some glasses and glued in the acetate. They look much better than the previous pairs, but I’m upset the lenses are only acetate pieces.

Costume Commissions are officially closed!

I am booked until January!!

Of course, this is estimation and if things go quickly, I will announce when I am open again.

PROPS AND CELTY HELMETS ARE STILL ACCEPTED!
I still have time to make props, trinkets, weapons and celty helmets. Just no big full blown costumes. I got enough of those on schedule.

Just putting this out there…

Commissions cost money from me….

But my advice is always free and never ending. Its okay if you just want to email me for help or message me on tumblr. I don’t charge for helping you out.

And I love doing it! So go ahead! I will help you shop for wigs, find you tutorials, reference photos galore, experience tips and more.

I mean, most of you guys know that by now, but I get a few questions about commission quotes.

Also, if you ask for a commission, and I tell you how I would do it — and you realize it would be easier than you thought and you want to do it yourself. Good!!! Thats okay!

I’m a cosplayer first and a commissioner second. And only human, always.
